Welcome to Mom's Fun Money.  My vision for this site is that everyone learns something new about making money, saving money and just how much fun you can have doing it!  And then, that you pay it forward.

Blessings, Katie

Baking Day 2

Posted by Katie Adauto on Friday, December 4, 2009 Under: Recipes
Today my plan is to make peanut butter balls and Snickerdoodles.  So far 2 batches of peanut butter balls are done!  The picture below is just one batch.  The Snickerdoodles are now done too!  I am done for today.  I got the recipe HERE.  I have made this recipe before and they are very tasty.  I forgot to take a picture.  Call it cookie burnout!

Peanut Butter Balls

2 cups of graham cracker crumbs - you can buy them in a box in the baking aisle or just smash them yourself
1 box of powdered sugar
1 cup of peanut butter
1 cup soft margarine
1/2 block of parafin wax - this is usually in the baking aisle in a box
1 package of chocolate chips

Mix first 4 ingredients together - you really need to mix with your hands.  Yes it will be messy but is the most effective.
Then roll the dough into balls the size of nickels or quarters.  After I roll them I place them on wax paper.

Now to melt the wax and chocolate - Use a double broiler or two pots where one fits snug into the other.  Place water in the bottom pot and then the wax in the top.  Remember that you only need half a bar so you will have to cut it.  When wax is just about melted add the chocolate chips and stir until melted.  Then turn flame down to the lowest setting and starting dipping your balls.  I just do one at a time and place them on the wax paper.  They dry pretty fast.

This is the hit each Christmas.  Everyone wants them.  They are basically Reese Peanut Butter Cups in a ball form.  They take a little work but are well worth it!
