Welcome to Mom's Fun Money.  My vision for this site is that everyone learns something new about making money, saving money and just how much fun you can have doing it!  And then, that you pay it forward.

Frugal Tips

Today I thought it would be fun to talk about Frugal Tips.  I have listed some and hope that you will comment and share some of your own.

  1. DVD Rentals - I was in love with my Netflix account, but it had to go.  What I now do is check movies out from my local library for free.  Each library differs, but at mine I can have them for as long as 2 weeks!
  2. Toilet Cleaner - I use rubbing alcohol.  It works especially well in cleaning the seat and it is really cheap.  I also use it when there is a sticker on a piece of glass that will just not come off.
  3. Grocery Bags - I am sure lots of you have tips on what to use those grocery bags for, but what I am now doing is using only reusable bags when I go to the grocery store.  Some stores give you incentives for using them.  My local Ralphs' gives you reward points for every bag you use.  These points are then turned into cash. Every 3 months I receive a check from them!
  4. Reuse-Repurpose - I love being able to take something and use it in a different way.  From using doors as desks to bottles as vases.  Be creative!
  5. Get rid of your landline phone.  We have had only cell phones for a few years now and have not missed the landline at all.
  6. Batteries - When you have a new package of batteries, store the unused ones in the fridge.  Helps them last longer.
  7. No more paper towels - I only use kitchen towels.  Saves money and the environment
  8. Don't pay for another magazine!!!  I have tons of free magazine subscriptions all the time on the site.  Never pay again!
  9. Fast Food - Just for the fun of it, trying eating out on the Dollar Menu.  If you have kids, make a game out of it.  Who can get the best meal from that menu only.
  10. Repairs - Do repairs one day a week (paint touch ups, sewing, etc.).  If you keep things in good working order, then will last longer.
OK, it is your turn!
