In the Beginning...

I have had a few people tell me I should start a blog, so what better place than on the website. I have been asked how and why I search for good deals. I look back to my childhood and remember that saving money was something that we just did. It was part of our lives. The local Salvation Army was one block away and we visited there frequently. I went through many a used Hot Wheels from there. My grandmother only bought her clothes at Salvation Army and was always getting stopped by people asking her where she got her outfit. Not that I did not have my years of being a teen when I would go to Nordstrom just to feel like a rich kid. I will admit I did own one pair of Guess Jeans and some Reeboks in high school.
I also remember as a child collecting stuff. And I mean almost anything! From bottle caps to matchbook covers to cutting out entry forms and coupons. Now I never sent in the entry forms or used the coupons, but God was preparing me! :)
Once I had kids and a household to manage coupons and free deals were already in my blood. Anything free that I could take the kids to, we were there. Loved story time at the library or local bookstore, free pictures with the Easter Bunny at Longs Drug Store, fairs where the kids couple make crafts for free, and we cannot forget Home Depot on Saturday mornings. And I always loved to bring the neighbors and their kids along. The more people I could bring into this frugal life I was leading the better for me. It was a rite of passage for my kids to shop at Salvation Army. Now I cannot say I can get them in the door now, being teenagers, but I know it is in their blood too!
My hopes of this blog is to share with you what goes on in the mind of a very frugal person and to share insights, great deals and a little more in depth information about some of the items I post.
Thanks for being here!
