Isaiah's Legacy

Until recently I had never read a book where historical events were interwoven with fiction. Isaiah's Legacy is such a book. Mesu Andrews takes us back to biblical times and the story of a 12 year old, Manasseh, who becomes king of Judah. Micah Berteau has a gem of a book on his hands! He takes the bible story of Hosea and Gomer, husband and wife, and reminds us that the story is really about Jesus and us. He reminds us of just how much we are loved in a refreshing new way.

The true story allows us to go along with David while he travels the Himalayan mountains. Great Gift for Grandparents

Although I am not yet a grandparent, I have a unique situation in my home right now. My father-in-law moved in with us about a year ago. During this time he has been diagnosed with cancer and recently put on Hospice. I am happy to say he is doing well! Delivered {Review}

Beth Moore is so popular and thinking back, this might be the first of her books I have ever read! Upon receiving Delivered I read that it was taken from another book she wrote, Get Out of that Pit. I had the privilege of reading Ever Faithful, a Vintage National Park Novel by Karen Barnett. This is the third in the series and I cannot wait to read the older two! This is the second book by James Markert that I have read and he did not disappoint! Midnight at the Tuscany Hotel is the story of a family (husband, wife and son) who create and live in a hotel in a fictional town in California in the early 1900's. The Baggage Handler :{Review}

I love it when I start a book and it catches my attention right away, and I do not want to put it down. That is how it was with The Baggage Handler. I loved the concept/idea of the book. I loved how personally we got to know the 3 main characters and their "baggage". Obviously the book is meant to be used for self reflection and I love how effortlessly the author did that. Us Against the World {Review}

I have to admit that I had never heard of the Manns before, but like to read books on marriage. I loved that while reading this book I was able to get to know them, their story and their heart to help marriages. It is done in a funny, practical way that kept my attention the entire time. The story about the Big Gulp had me laughing out loud! I do not think I learned anything new about marriage, but the reminders were good.

This is just the cutest little book. Only a little over 100 pages, but it is jammed pack with knowledge, wisdom and some great stories. I had just seen a trailer for this movie when I was given a chance to read it first! Indivisible is the story of an Army Chaplain and his time time in Iraq (15 months). Aching Joy {review}

The title alone caught my interest and made me want to read the book. What I did not know is that the book is mainly about the journey of the author, as a father of an autistic boy. He shared his story in a very raw way. Even if you do not have an autistic person in your life, there were enough nuggets of wisdom to apply to your own life. Leaving Cloud 9 {Review}

Leaving Cloud 9 is the story of a man who lived in horrible conditions as a child. We learn what it was like and then take a journey with him as he becomes an adult. We learn about the mental illness he battles and the choices made along the way. What is interesting about this book is that it is not written by him, but rather by his third wife. The premise of Courage, Dear Heart Letters to a weary world, is a great one. In August of 2014 the town of Ferguson, MO was rocked by the shooting of an unarmed black young adult. What followed was 13 days of chaos in that town. 13 Days in Ferguson is the account of that time seen through the eyes of Captain Ronald Johnson.

This is the second book by Rory Feek that I have read in the last few months. What stands out about the way he writes are the length of his chapters, they are normally 3-4 pages each. Becoming the Talbot Sisters {Review}

Becoming the Talbot Sisters started out with us getting to know the sisters, connecting after a few years and with the reason being their aunt passed away. The story kept me on my toes with many twists, including one sister caring a child for another one, kidnapping and reconnecting. It was a heartwarming book that I enjoyed, but maybe a little too sappy for some of you!

The Awakening of HK Derryberry (Review)

I must admit, just from the title of this book, I was a little skeptical. What would it be like, what did they mean by awakening. Well, let me say this book is so heart warming and written with suck an ease. I loved getting to know HK and truly understand his awakening and what it meant. While I enjoyed the book, when I was done I realized that the author told a lot of stories about herself and then walked the reader through how to handle these situations or ones similar. The Naturalist Theodore Roosevelt Review

I was in a history mood when I selected The Naturalist as the next book to read. I knew a little about Theodore Roosevelt, knew he helped start national parks, but this book really digs in his favorite past time, hunting, killing and preserving animals and it started at a young age. A Spectacle of Glory Review

With the new year, I know many of us are looking for ways to start new, good habits. I was asked to review A Spectacle of Glory. It is a small book with a dated devotional for each day. I have completed one week and find the writing to be very thoughtful and well written. Being a tiny book does put some limits in place and one is that there is space to write the verse(s) they are speaking of, but not room enough to actually quote them. Green Works Review & $1 Coupon

I was lucky enough to be sent some Green Works products in the mail a few weeks back to test and review.  I had seen their products on the shelves of stores I visit in the past, but had never purchased them.  So, I was excited to give them a try.  And knowing that they were environmentally friendly was a plus.
