MFM Thrifting Adventures

Posted by Moms Fun Money on Saturday, September 19, 2015, In : Thrifting

Well, do you ever find "that item"? The one that knocks you off your feet and you throw caution to the wind? Well, I found mine yesterday! Logic told me, "Where Are You Going to Put it"? "Will You Ever Actually Use It"? But in the end, the thrill took over and I bought it. What was it you might ask?

A Teal Sewing Machine! I stood there in the store with my husband, giddy as a kid on Christmas morning! But the cost held me back $35.50. In the end, I gave in and bought it. Got home and researche...

MFM Thrifting Adventures

Posted by Moms Fun Money on Sunday, August 16, 2015, In : Thrifting

It has been a really long time since I have shared any of my thrift store finds! I have still been going out looking for goodies, but mainly I have been purchasing clothing, to stretch that budget! Well, my hubby and I headed out yesterday to see what we could find. I was in search of a sofa table for our home. I did not find one, but what I would is so much better!

I am assuming that this is a small kitchen or dining room table. Someone had already made an attempt to have it look shabby chic....

Recipe Time Capsule

Posted by Moms Fun Money on Saturday, February 15, 2014, In : Thrifting

It has been quite a while since I have shared any of my thrift store finds with you!  I have been able to purchase a lot of really nice clothing, super cheap!  But my latest find just touched me.  My husband and I were at Salvation Army, during their 50% off day, of course!  I can across a box filled with recipes.  It was only $3.55 and then with 50% off I could not turn it down.  It was just stuffed full of recipes so I grabbed it and thought maybe I could find a few I might like,  When I go...

Giving Tuesday at Goodwill

Posted by Moms Fun Money on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, In : Thrifting

If you have been visiting MFM for awhile, you know I love thrift stores!  I was just at three on Black Friday.  No regular, large stores for me :)  Anyway, Today is Giving Tuesday at Goodwill.  They do such good work with the money generated.  Here is a video about one young lady.

Last year, Goodwill provided employment training, job placement, financial education, youth mentoring and more to 6.7 million people in the United States and Canada. (To see how the process works, just watch our â€...

Thrifting Adventures with MFM

Posted by Moms Fun Money on Saturday, July 20, 2013, In : Thrifting

It has been a long time since I shared any of my thrift store adventures.  My husband is now in on it with me.  Funny how we each find something we like to collect.  Is that the same with your family?  Well, this time I was with my mom.  We were both raised by my grandma, who bought almost everything at the thrift store, so it is just part of who we are :)

We visited six stores over two days and here are just a few highlights of what we got :)

At Salvation Army these items are marked as Bric or...

Thrifting Adventures #3

Posted by Moms Fun Money on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, In : Thrifting

My mom's 2 1/2 day visit has come to a close.  I must say that the stores did not have a lot of great stuff so we focused more on getting my mom some clothing.  I did find 2 pairs of capri's, 1 pair of sweat pants and a pair of dress pants for myself that I did not take pictures of.  Salvation Army had all their pants 75% off so that was a deal I could not pass up.  Here are the other items I bought:

What do you think?  I was looking for a small lamp for our guest bedroom.  Clara will be arriv...

Thrifting Adventures #2

Posted by Moms Fun Money on Friday, July 27, 2012, In : Thrifting

I have been busy the last few weeks so have not visited any thrift stores.  Well that all changed yesterday.  My daughter and I visited our local Goodwill on Wednesday.  I did not take any pictures, but I bought a blue and white striped beach umbrella that I am actually using as a patio umbrella for $9.99.

Here are most of my goodies from today:

My husband and I visited Salvation Army.  Most of the items in the store were 30% off so it made for some good deals.

I love the paint can!  I have se...

I have been sharing on and off lately about my thrift store trips.  So, I thought it would be fun to give the series a name, so....Thirfting Adventures it will be!

A lot of the times when I go thrifting I am out looking for something specific, and I am always looking for Pyrex, my new obsession!  You can read more about it HERE :)

I am co-hosting my sister-in-law's bridal shower at my home on Saturday, and you can imagine the craziness that is going on around here now.  After a long, hot day ...

Thrifting & Antiquing This Weekend

Posted by Moms Fun Money on Sunday, June 3, 2012, In : Thrifting
Now, I do not want you to think that each week I am out at the thrift stores, but it has happened two weeks in a row now.  Maybe it was because I found such great deals last week.  Friday night we visited Salvation Army before they closed at 9pm since it was their 50% off sale day.  My husband purchased 4 books.  As you might remember, last week I was looking for a round mirror but could not find one.  Well, I found one!  It was brand new, still in the box so I grabbed it.  It was still $10, ...
