One word, LOVE! Matthew Barnett's heart to help the less fortunate touches me so much. This is his second book and I would not wait to read it and it did not disappoint. In his latest book
Misfits Welcome: Find Yourself in Jesus and Bring the World Along for the Ride
he weaves in stories of his life, of the lives of people staying at the Dream Center in Los Angeles while he motivates the reader to go with their gut and help those in needs, even if you do not feel qualified to do so.
I love this quote, "Here's a great way to live life: Do everything unto the glory of God, and anything you get from man is a bonus. People can;t always give you what you need. That's why serving for the honor and glory of God is the ultimate pursuit."
And this one... "I used to always try to talk myself out of spontaneous ideas. Now I surrender to them. I've realized I'm not a good enough person to think of a sudden compassionate idea on the spot. That's not me. The sudden idea of irresistible compassion that floods my soul is from God. Every day, in big ways and small ways, I;m trying to see that willingness to trust and be led has an ending that will glorify God."
I think most of us have felt that way. All of a sudden an idea pops into our head and we automatically go on the attack. Trying to talk ourselves out of it rather than just going with it and seeing where it leads it. After reading this book I cannot wait for the next "idea" to come to mind and actually follow through with it.
