I have been reading up a storm lately, not sure what has come over me, but I love it when I read a good book. I had the pleasure of reading
Miss Brenda and the Loveladies
last week. It is a true story about Ms. Brenda from Alabama who felt that she was called to help women who had recently been released from prison who otherwise would probably have ended up right back in jail.
The book is both funny and sad. Miss Brenda sounds like a hoot and to hear her tell about the first time the ladies came to her door and how scared she was and wanted to change her mind. How the cook and the house mother quit the minute the saw the ladies. She tells the story so well. There are also chapters written by some of the ladies who went through the program, many of them who stayed after to work for Miss Brenda.
It is a story of hope, a story to motivate you to step out in faith when you feel called to do something, even if it might see, scary or even crazy.
