For years Valentine's Day was not celebrated with much fanfare in our home. I decorated and bought the kids presents, but my husband and I put it on the back burner for yourselves, missed so much fun I can say now! This is the second year we have recommitted to make it something special. This year, however, I have to work on Valentine's night, so my husband surprised me with a little getaway! He made a reservation at Casa Laguna Inn and Spa. It was just beautiful as you can see from the pictures. It was a little over an hour drive from our home, a great time to talk and look forward to the evening.

We arrived a little after 5pm and were informed that they had upgraded us to a Jr. Suite at no additional cost! AMAZING! The only thing to keep in mind is that to have the amazing ocean views our room was right along Highway 1, and yes, there was lots of traffic! But they try to make that not much of an issue for their guests. They placed sound machines next to the bed. You know, the ones where you can play sounds of rain, the ocean, etc. And there were even ear plugs in the bathroom, but we did not need them.

We unpacked and then headed back for their complimentary hors d'oeuveres and wine that they serve every evening. By the time we got there, there was not much left, but come on, it was free :)  We headed out to dinner and then to see the movie Big Eyes. I am a sucker for a good true story and really enjoyed the movie a lot!

The next morning we enjoyed breakfast on the patio. The food was too good and was gone before I took a picture!

We checked out and then spent the rest of the day looking for thrift stores and other unique shops before heading home. I found an amazing wooden desk chair for only $11.99. Needs some work, but it is already on its way to being amazing!
