We decided on a beach theme after looking around on the internet. We already had the mattress and box spring, but did have to buy a bedroom for $30. My husband built the headboard for about $20. We purchased an old end table at Salvation Army for $20, used our existing dresser and just white washed it. We bought some shells from Michael's, even found the star fish that we glued onto the headboard at Salvation Army, and my great friend, Barbara, gave us a bunch of shells for our art projects. She gave us the idea for the starfish nightlight and gave us all the supplies for free! My husband is very creative and made all the art work on the walls, including the home made "beach" sign.
Not only will our visitors have a nice room to enjoy when they come, but this was a great "couple" project, from painting the room, to shopping for items, to putting it all together.
