Isaiah's Legacy

February 1, 2020

Until recently I had never read a book where historical events were interwoven with fiction. Isaiah's Legacy is such a book. Mesu Andrews takes us back to biblical times and the story of a 12 year old, Manasseh, who becomes king of Judah. We are taken on a journey to learn how we was raised/tricked into believe in other Gods and how God how to do something as drastic as put him in prison for him to once believe in the one true God.

I enjoyed the story, even though I knew the ending. We are introduced to fictional characters along the way, but they are so well written you would think they were real. My only piece of criticism would be that there were so many characters it was hard to keep track of who was who.

If you are looking for a good book to curl up with, you will enjoy Isaiah's Legacy.

I received a copy of this book to review. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've Seen the End of You {Review}

I had the opportunity to get a sneak peek of this book, which releases on January 7, 2020. I had never heard of the author before, so enjoyed learning more about him as a doctor and an author. In the book Dr. Warren shares stories of patients he assisted throughout the years and the faith struggle he has had from time to time. Although I found learning more about neurosurgery in particular fascinating, over all the book was pretty depressing. Most of the stories he shares are of patients who ...

The Faith of Queen Elizabeth {Review}

December 2, 2019
Image of The Faith of Queen Elizabeth: The Poise, Grace and Quiet Strength Behind the Crown
Being from America, I really do not know much about Queen Elizabeth, or the Royal Family as a whole. So, I was happy to get a chance to read this book by Dudley Delffs. I so enjoyed learning more about her becoming Queen and the over 50 years that she has reigned. I feel like I know her so much better than before and find her fascinating. The author a few times mentioned the Netflix series The Crown, so of course I had to start watching it as a result of having a desire to learn more. I loved...

Scouting the Reaper {Review}

October 14, 2019

I truly cannot remember the last time I have read a book with a set of short stories, I like short stories since they keep my attention, but I was unsure about Scouting the Reaper. Not a huge fan of the name of the book and I could not make sense of the cover art. Well, once you read the stories, the art makes sense. The book consists of eight short stories. I enjoyed most of them (really enjoyed the one about the truck driver and his load of penguins), a few left me just were not my cup of t...

Jesus in Me {Review}

Jesus in Me: Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion
For as many books as Anne Graham Lotz has written, this is the first one that I have read. I loved the topic of the book "Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion" . Anne shared her knowledge of the Holy Spirit and shared very personal stories that showed Him at work in her life and how she experienced and continues to experience Him.

I found the book inspirational, one of those books that you hold on to to refer back to or let a friend borrow from time to time. I love having thos...

Dreams That Never Were {Review}

October 3, 2019
Return to product information

Let me start by saying that when an author can write a book and you do not know when truth ends and fiction begins, that is one good author! When I started Dreams That Never Were, I did not read the blurb on the book. From the title and picture on the cover, I incorrectly assumed this was a book of non fiction. As I started, and started to get enthralled with the main character, Alex Hurley, I started to wonder how the author, Greg Messel, got such personal information. I then took a moment t...

Love Changes Everything {Review}

Micah Berteau has a gem of a book on his hands! He takes the bible story of Hosea and Gomer, husband and wife, and reminds us that the story is really about Jesus and us. He reminds us of just how much we are loved in a refreshing new way.

I dog eared pages with quotes like, "Shame, guilt and condemnation are not of God. God does not give you any of those feelings. This is why we have to be so careful not to confuse condemnation and conviction. Once brings guild and share, while the other bri...

Something Needs to Change {Review}

Something Needs to Change: A Call to Make Your Life Count in a World of Urgent Need
Have you ever read a book that changes you? That is how I feel about Something Needs to Change by David Platt. The true story allows us to go along with David while he travels the Himalayan mountains. To hear first hand what he came across and how he was moved to action both lead me to tears and to frustration. She shares his own emotional struggles of faith and the questions you had. But in the end, he too was changed. To the point where he took a new job once he was back home.

I would highly...

Farewell My Life {Review}

I have to admit that when I received Farewell My Life I was a little worried. This is one big book! But as I started I realized that this would be a quick read because the author, Cynthia Sally Haggard, does a great job of bringing the characters to life. The story is based around the main character, Grace. When we first meet her she is 17 and to save she is niave would be an understatement. In fact at times I found myself getting frustrated at how little she knew, like she was a real person!...

Great Gift for Grandparents

August 30, 2019
Image result for dear grandchild this is me

Although I am not yet a grandparent, I have a unique situation in my home right now. My father-in-law moved in with us about a year ago. During this time he has been diagnosed with cancer and recently put on Hospice. I am happy to say he is doing well! During this transition time I saw the opportunity to review Dear Grandchild, This is Me. Although my children are grown, my father-in-law has very young grand kids.

I was thrilled to get the book and be able to show it to him. There are many pa...
