Delivered {Review}

Delivered

Beth Moore is so popular and thinking back, this might be the first of her books I have ever read! Upon receiving Delivered I read that it was taken from another book she wrote, Get Out of that Pit. I am not sure which book is larger. Delivered is a quick read and has a lot of great takeaways. I did not find most of what she shared anything that I currently needed help with, but I know plenty of people that would find this book a great resource!

I received a copy of this book to review. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ever Faithful {Review}

I had the privilege of reading Ever Faithful, a Vintage National Park Novel by Karen Barnett. This is the third in the series and I cannot wait to read the older two! The story, while fiction, allows you to step back into time to Yellowstone National Park in the 1930s. The story has both romance and mystery. Will they fall in love? Who is setting the fires?Karen Barnett is a wonderful author. I love when I pick up a book and do not want to put it down because I am bought in right away.

Finish First :{Revew}

May 16, 2019
Finish First

I grew up in the 1980's and remember Scott Hamilton well. I was excited to read his newest book, Finish First. I did not realize that this was more of a self help/inspirational book rather than an autobiography (which I love)!. Although Scott does weave in his own personal story in the book, his goal with this book is to inspire readers to push themselves more. While I grabbed a few nuggets of wisdom from this book, overall I felt it gave a lot of info and not a lot of practical steps. He eve...

Midnight at the Tuscany Hotel {Review}

April 27, 2019
Midnight at the Tuscany Hotel

This is the second book by James Markert that I have read and he did not disappoint! Midnight at the Tuscany Hotel is the story of a family (husband, wife and son) who create and live in a hotel in a fictional town in California in the early 1900's. We are then shot forward to the 1940's, after the death of the month, the son coming back from WWII and the father suffering from memory loss. The story takes us on a journey, both present and past to learn more about this family and the hotel. So...

The Baggage Handler :{Review}

I love it when I start a book and it catches my attention right away, and I do not want to put it down. That is how it was with The Baggage Handler. I loved the concept/idea of the book. I loved how personally we got to know the 3 main characters and their "baggage". Obviously the book is meant to be used for self reflection and I love how effortlessly the author did that. I would recommend this book to everyone!

I received a copy of this book to review. All opinions are 100% mine.

Us Against the World {Review}

February 24, 2019
W Publishing

I have to admit that I had never heard of the Manns before, but like to read books on marriage. I loved that while reading this book I was able to get to know them, their story and their heart to help marriages. It is done in a funny, practical way that kept my attention the entire time. The story about the Big Gulp had me laughing out loud! I do not think I learned anything new about marriage, but the reminders were good.

I received a copy of this book to review. All opinions are 100% mine.

The Ministry of Ordinary Places {Review}

January 30, 2019

So, it has been a long time since a book impacted me so much! The title caught my attention so I thought I would give it a try, not really knowing what it would be about, and never having heard about the author before. By the time I was done, not only did it move me to action, I even followed the author on social media, I never do that!

Shannon Martin shares with us what it is like to live in a neighborhood in need. To not keep your door closed, to not get in your car, open the garage door and...

Becoming Gertrude {Review}

Becoming Gertrude: How Our Friendships Shape Our Faith
This is just the cutest little book. Only a little over 100 pages, but it is jammed pack with knowledge, wisdom and some great stories. Janice Peterson is in her 80's and shares stories of your life as a pastor's wife with us. Gertrude was a neighbor of hers when she was growing up and made a huge impact on her life.

In this book you will find good reminders of how to encourage others. In this day and age we think just clicking Like on someone's post is encouragement enough. What about actual...

Indivisible (Review)

November 24, 2018

I had just seen a trailer for this movie when I was given a chance to read it first! Indivisible is the story of an Army Chaplain and his time time in Iraq (15 months). We learn how it was for him and his family back at home during this time. We are given an inside look into the thoughts of someone during war time.  The end of the book focuses on returning home and the challenges that he endured. I enjoyed reading the book and I do not have any close family in the military. I would believe th...

Aching Joy {review}

October 25, 2018

The title alone caught my interest and made me want to read the book. What I did not know is that the book is mainly about the journey of the author, as a father of an autistic boy. He shared his story in a very raw way. Even if you do not have an autistic person in your life, there were enough nuggets of wisdom to apply to your own life. But I truly enjoyed getting to know more about him and his son, the aching joy, and his desire to find peace and joy in the midst of pain and wondering.

If y...
