I must admit that I had never heard of Phase 4 Films before.  But when I found out that they distribute a lot of family friendly movies I wanted to know more.  It seems, these days, that finding a movie that is suitable for the entire family is not that easy.  I know you moms know what I mean!

Our family was lucky enough to receive 5 of their movies, that were recently released on DVD, to watch.  If you are interested in watching any or all of these movies with your family they can be bought at Target, Walmart and Amazon.com or you can rent them at Redbox locations.  You can also get more information about Phase 4 Films HERE.
Right now they are also giving away a complete 8 DVD set.  Visit their Pinterest page HERE for all the details on the Pin it to Win it giveaway.    Ends August 31, 2012.

Smitty (Pictured above)

This was the only live action movie we received.  It stars Peter Fonda, Mira Sorvino and Louis Gossett, Jr.  I thought Smitty was going to be the dog in the movie, but it turns out it is the character played by Louis Gossett, Jr.  The movie tells the story of a 13 year old boy and his struggling, single mother.  Ben is sent to spend the summer in Iowa on a farm with his estranged grandfather, played by Peter Fonda.  It was a heartwarming movie that my daughter and I enjoyed.

Freddy Frogface

This movie does a really good job of dealing with bullies in a funny way.  It centers around a 10 year old and his friends, who not only have to face a world full of stern grown-ups but also the town bully.  The animation was as good as any big budget movie you would see in the theater.  I really enjoyed it.

Donkey X

Donkey's seem to be popular in animation these days.  Donkey X is based on the 400 year old Spanish tale "Don Quijote de la Mancha".  It follows Rucio, the brave and mischievous donkey of Castile as he tells the true story of Don Quixote.  Great for the kids as a history lesson too!  So cute, gotta love the donkey!

Kiara the Brave

A nice alternative to the Disney movie that is out now if you do not have the money to go see it in the theater.  Just rent this one from your local Redbox!  Visit Dreamzone, a peaceful and magical kinddom under hte rul of King Maximus.  The king is captured and imprisioned by his evil brother.  The king's daughter, Kiara, now make everything right again.  I just loved her character.  A good role model for girls.  My daughter rooted for her the entire time!

Space Dogs

Just looking at the dogs makes me smile :)  You might be surprised to hear that is based on the true story of  Belka and Strelka, two dogs sent to space in 1960.  They come from different backgrounds and must come together in space.  Really cute idea for a movie and a must see.

Thanks to Phase 4 Films and Childs Play Communications for providing the movies.  All views are 100% mine!
