I have to admit that I do not know a whole lot about Dolly Parton. I am not a country music fan but remember her popularity in the 1980's when I was growing up. I thought it would be fun to read a book that would touch more on the spiritual side.
What you need to know about this book is that the author has never met or interviewed Dolly. This book is filled with stories of Dolly that he has gotten from other sources and he shares them along with his own story. At the end of each chapter he has included a "Divine Dose of Dolly" which includes songs of hers that he suggests listening to. I enjoyed reading the book, but truthfully skipped the end of each chapter. I think in the long run I would have enjoyed read a biography or autobiography of Dolly more, but this book was an interesting concept and a pretty easy read.
I received a copy of this book to review. All opinions are 100% mine.
